Nov22 another busy day at work today... it was chaotic.. everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong.. and it is quite amusing actually. it is amusing how predictable this 'unpredictable' is. everytime.. at the critical moments, things go hay wire.. machine crashes.. people get sick. ha.
big news!!! dave just went downstairs and ... to his shock, one of my turtles was missing. i ran downstairs.. and by then, dave has found him. he was on the shelf next to the tank.. i noticed some reddish, blood looking wetness on the tank rim.. we observed him and noticed some blood on his paw. All of a sudden, this sadness overwhelmed me. i couldn't imagine how he had so much strength to pull himself up and crawl out of the tank like that... injured. his desire for escaping must be strong! poor thing.. now i wonder if i should let them go? :(

Nov21 busy day. buzzing around like a bee. two more days and it is thanksgiving!! so it will be a short week. :) saturday night, we watched Hotel Rwanda. It is a good movie. I liked it. It got enough suspense, action, and story. i was sitting at my desk doing some work.. then i spotted this mug near dave's seat. i went over there and looked at it. he came in and saw me. "this is cool." i said. he was like "someone at work gave it to me... it has flowers and stuff on there... I don't know why he thinks I'd like it"... I laughed.

The program can be found here: http://eigelb.at/HP/Links/SpecialEffects/Grappa/BlueRandom/index.html I met victor today. it was nice to see him again. we chitchatted about various things.. he told me some interesting stories about people I met at his wedding.

Nov16 work work work... i stayed home and worked from home today. by the end of the day, i was TIRED. i read on the news abut the 315 mil lottery winner in california. that reminded me of the movie 'millions'. i watched it on the plane going to amsterdam. it was a pretty cool movie. 'millions' has nothing to do with lottery, but nonetheless, it was about wads of cash coming out of nowhere and what you do with it.

Nov15 we pass by golden buddha everyday on the way home. i have never been in there. i only see the big golden words: golden buddha hanging on the window. all the windows are covered with red curtains. i couldn't see what's in there.. every day, as we pass it, i look at it. for that 5 seconds, i wonder: what is it like inside? is there a golden buddha statue in there? how big is it inside? is it dark or bright or golden inside? how is the business in there? tick, tick, tick... 5 seconds is up... golden buddha is behind me.

Nov14 On victor's wedding day,I heard this nice song and then forgot all about it. during the weekend, i heard it again on the radio and it has stuck in my head since then! Today, I spotted victor on yahoo messenger. I asked him what that song was. he told me it is called "Bittersweet symphony" by verve. it is quite an old song and it has got a pretty bittersweet story behind it too. quite interesting. Here's the info I found about it:
<--- extraction from Wikipedia ---
Although it was written almost entirely by Verve vocalist, Richard Ashcroft, it is also credited to Keith Richards and Mick Jagger because the song samples a part from of an instrumental version of the Rolling Stones song, "The Last Time". All of the royalties from the song go to Allen Klein, who owns most of the Rolling Stones' catalog. Contrary to popular belief, the song's main riff was arranged and recorded entirely by The Verve and is not the Rolling Stones sample used. The song was later used, against the will of the band, by Nike in a shoe commercial. As a result, it was on the Illegal Art CD from Stay Free!.
--- end of extraction --->
hmm... bittersweet indeed. imagine coming up with a hit song and not getting any royalty out of it.

Nov13 turtle tank is set up! unfortunately, we didn't think through the whole plan clearly. we should have gotten the tank that has a hole on the side so we could keep the water level low for turtles. but instead, we got the kind that doesn't have a hole on the side. anyway, the filter is pouring water down from the top like a little waterfall. also, another thing is, the mesh wire lid we bought for the tank can't really be used because the filter is hanging on the side, so the lid can't close. we now have the top of the tank open. other than the two glitches, everything else is ok. I am not sure why the turtles just kept on crawling from one end to the other.. exploring the new home, perhaps.

Nov12 I found one of my missing colored pencils! One is still missing... so i bought a replacement at the artist supply store on 4th street near the big down town library. I also got a colorless blender... i haven't tried it out yet.. wonder if it is good for blending.
We went to buy turtle tank again today. we only got the tank at one store. then, we decided to go out again to buy the screen cover and clamp lamp at petsmart. lo and behold, they sell a whole kit with tank, lamp, bulb, everything for 60 bucks! So we got the whole set and will return the other tank tomorrow. I will be setting up the turtle tank tomorrow!! I saw a set up at petsmart. it looked pretty neat. the water level wasn't high at all and there were several fish swimming in there even. i thought i wasn't supposed to put fish in there.. once someone told me they'd die coz of the toxic water polluted by turtles... who knows, maybe they are turtle food??
