work has been keeping me busy..once in a while, all these stuff just seems so mundane. last weekend, dave and i went to a colleague's wedding party. little wes sure seemed to have enjoyed himself. he was jumping, smiling. i am just glad he wasn't screaming like some of the other kids there. food was served rather late. by that time i was starving. but little wes was going strong and didn't seem a tad tired/hungry. the wedding was beautiful and super loud. i was told that is how it always is. they try to get you into the mood of dancing and having fun i guess.

carmen has been making good progress. soon after she was able to roll one way, she rolled another... then, she was able to sit in a wobbly manner and the day after, she was able to sit there for a long time by herself!! woohoo for carmen! it is still funny how she looks like a little boy.. every time she flashes this big smile on us, it just makes us all laugh.

the day before yesterday, carmen flipped onto her tummy, but none of us saw how she did it. we just know one minute she was on her back. then when we looked at her again, she was turned over chewing some toy. yesterday, we were able to see her doing it. she basically lifted her legs, pushed on some stumps and turned over that way. then, she turned over to her back again. haha. pretty funny.
i got some jacket with marvel super heros on there for wes. he likes it so much that he has been wearing is all the time.. he refuses to take it off even inside the house.. even when it is sunny outside... he is very silly that way.. or, should i say, very vain!!

wes' school has been teaching them songs for the upcoming celebration they are doing for chinese new year. so every day, he comes home and sings the songs over and over. they taught some vietnamese songs too, but none of us can make out what it is about. :) we also got some costumes for him to wear for the event. he refuses to wear the little hat coz it has a fake 'pig tail' attached to it. when we were in the store, as soon as he saw the hat with the 'pig tail', he asked me: whose hair is it?!! i just broke out laughing and told him it is not real hair. but i don't think he believes me somehow.
yesterday at dinner time, i asked him to describe to me what one of his teacher looks like. he made a gesture to illustrate that she has a a big head of hair. then i asked him whether she is young or old? i then thought, he probably doesn't understand what 'young' vs. 'old' is. so i said: do you know what is young and old? he said: yes yes. 'then is she young or old?' i asked again. he said very affirmatively: young!! young like an old man!!! dave and i just broke out laughing...

kids don't seem to learn from their mistakes. ok. not only kids. can't say about others, but definitely me too.
wes is pretty funny sometimes. one of those nights, he was doing some writing. then he came over to me, and asked if he could put 'x' next to some of the stuff he wrote. i asked why? he said: coz these are very crappy. oh... so he sees that we put 'x' next to things which weren't done right. i just broke out laughing and said: if you know they are crappy, then why don't you just fix them?!! he obviously just ignored what i said. coz later on, when he gave me the sheet he was practicing tracing on, i see several small 'x' next to the words he wrote... how silly.

clog magnets. little wes. holding clogs and running upstairs while saying: it is beautiful! it is beautiful!!. silly monkey.
carmen has not been well the past week. had a fever and runny nose. she started getting better the day before yesterday.. but she is still not herself. so not enough sleep for me. coz she wakes up and cries at night every night. ah.. parenthood.

finally! rain is stopping... but it will be back. well. lets not be pessimistic... dong contacted me today and told me one of our old colleagues was diagnosed with breast cancer. she already had surgery and is having chemo now. hopefully she will be on her way to a full recovery.
i have been taking some pix from the window next to my cube. now i finally have the time to post some...
