Aug30 i visited the little pond near our house on sunday. well, was just taking a stroll there. i saw near the pond while carmen slept in her cart. then a family of mother and two kids came by. they brought a ziplock bag of bread to feed the ducks there. (they weren't supposed to!). while they were doing that, i heard the little girl chirping about turtles. "look look! baby turtles!". my heart jumped a little. turtles?? could those be mine? after they left (to get more bread, apparently). i went over to the edge of the pond to look. sure enough, there are turtles. small ones, big ones. one of them swam closer to me, peeked out its head from under the water. they were all swimming gracefully. i hope my turtles are amongst them and living happily there.

Aug23 last weekend, first weekend in a long while that i didn't have to do work. i, instead, made DS with little wes. yeah, wes was telling grandpa about making DS with mommy. and obviously grandpa had no clue what he was talking about. :)

Jul17 today is 'work at work' day even tho it is saturday. it is the end of the release and we are trying to all work hard and get the release out. i am actually pretty tired coz i have been staying up late almost every night and last weekend was work weekend too. nowadays, there's not much downtime, yet i feel so little is accomplished... not that good a feeling.
the other day, wes was pretty funny. he was eating and talking... yes, he is a big chatterbox right now. he talks and talks. dave and i constantly have to remind him to eat his food. so, at one point, dave said to him: stop talking!! your food hasn't moved! (meaning, it hasn't gown down, he hasn't been eating). he starting holding his bowl in both hands and moving it on the table from side to said. then, he laughed and said: it is moving!!! we couldn't help but all cracked up.

Jun21 toy story 3 was kinda scary for little kids. overall a nice movie, with a good story line, plenty of action.
and, yeah, don't care about what dallas thinks!

Jun17 we have been doing our evening walks again. this time, each of us is pushing a kid. me -- carmen. dave -- wes. at least carmen is calm about her outings now. few months ago, she didn't like being pushed in a stroller. she would scream and cry. now she still screams occasionally, but those are happy screams. :) walking uphill and pushing a stroller is quite a workout.. well, i am pretty out of shape too. so. it makes me feel pretty good to have a bit of workout.
wes has moved to the bigger-kids class since this week. he seems to be adjusting fairly well. teacher said he has been good. i also see him mingling with other kids more.
what to do during july 4th long weekend? dunno... dunno...

Jun03 yesterday, when i took a walk near work. i passed by this area where there are a lot of fancy apartment buildings. nearby, next to the street, there is a row of big trash bins. i saw a man standing inside the trash can, rummaging, searching for cans, bottles, etc. recycling for money, i presume. i didn't think much of it... then as i circled back, the man wasn't in the trash bin anymore. instead, he was under a tree, nearby the trash cans. what really caught my attention was this little girl, 3ish, probably around wes' age. she was sitting on the ground, next to the man, which now i am guessing, is her dad. they were talking and the dad was trying to squeeze some blanket looking thing into a container. the little girl was looking on. i stared at them as i walked pass... then i saw a woman standing in the trash can. the girl's mom, i'd think. she was on the look out for bottles and cans now. as i passed the trash can, she gave me a quick look. it was not a look of embarrassment as one might expect. instead, it was a cold look. i walked passed all these.. but my mind was still on this family. are they homeless? these trash came from the residents of these luxury apartments... here, this family is searching through the trash

May31 *sigh*... big oil leak that can't be plugged...
last weekend, i attempted on giving little wes a haircut. well, i knew i messed it up when i accidentally cut out some 'bald' spots on the back of the head... i marched on and finished it...after shaving off too much side in between. after that, every time i look at him, i couldn't help but stare at his head...then burst into laughter. he didn't know i was laughing at him.. he just smiled when he saw me laughing. :D well, don't feel too sorry for him, later on, dave's mom fixed it for him. so he was looking fine in the end.
i didn't even know this was going to be a long weekend till someone mentioned it in the meeting on monday! ha. well. that was a pleasant surprise.
wes' little flower pot has two surviving seedlings and they are growing strong. for whatever reason, his just somehow came out so much slower than others... we left it on the window sill in the kitchen. every now and then, i water it a little. they are growing fairly well.
little carmen finally got one of her teeth poked out recently. it looks a little crooked though... no matter, she has been 'chewing' happily nonetheless.

May08 on friday, wes's school had some activity for mother's day. mothers were invited to see the kids work for about an hour. so i went there to see wes work. he was quite happy that i was there. i sat on the floor next to him to see him doing various activities... puzzles, counting, etc. i walked around the classroom and saw a bunch of small pots lined up on a shelf. almost every single pot has a bunch of seeds sprouted. i looked around for wes's. and there it was, a pot with a Popsicle stick with his name on there in the corner. his pot had only one seedling. i wondered, why his was the only one with so few seedlings... when it was time to leave, teacher told the kids to give 'mommies' the things they made. little wes squeezed himself to the shelf and randomly took a pot and came over to me to give to me. had i not seen his pot earlier, i probably would have just taken it. but i noticed that there were a lot of seedlings in there. so i said: this one is not yours. then, teacher gave me his. wes pointed at the pink ribbon on the pot and said in a very little voice: do you like pink? i said: yes. did you pick it? he nodded his head. thanks! i asked him why there's only 1 seedling in there, how come he didn't put more. he said: it was too much.

Apr26 yesterday, we went to happy hallow park. instead of parking at the regular parking lot, we parked near another garden. we have never been inside that garden, so we went to check it out. to our happy surprise, we saw a bunch of baby ducks!! they were so cute. little ducks where swimming in the water.. going really fast. the way they thread water is like running in the water. really fun to watch.
